Benjamin Prescott

As a lifestyle and adventure photographer, Ben loves sharing about a life lived outdoors through his platforms. He is passionate about using his work to inspire people to spend more time outside doing what they love. Backroad Mapbooks have been informing his adventures for over ten years, which have led him to the locations of some of his most iconic images, which have now been seen around the world.

THE PITCH

THE BIG IDEA

Over the past months, I have been been realizing how important my Backroad Mapbooks are to me as a landscape/outdoor photographer. They have given me the ability to access many of the places my favourite photographs have been taken: on my Highway 20 road-trip to Bella Coola and the M. Gurr Trail with the Cariboo Chilcotin Mapbook; my Twin Lakes to Healy Pass through-hike in Banff National Park thanks to the Canadian Rockies Special Parks Collection, and many more.

The idea is to have Ben seeking out a new location which he has always wanted to visit, ultimately finding it with the help of the Mapbook. There is a great opportunity here to associate the BRMB product line with Ben’s adventure photography work through video, photo, and written word.

The idea would be to tell the story of the whole trip through various stages; from planning, to the final printed image, journeying though many landscapes to reach the goal location, hitting on different social media groups and marketing angles. Ben would focus on experiencing the trip in the same manner as all his BRMB-informed trips of the past, capturing images as he goes, and working as he does as a professional landscape photographer. Damon would focus on documenting his travels through video, capturing behind-the-scenes as well as highlights; cinematic footage as well as documentary style narrative.

I believe that we could capture a natural story of a once in a life time trip through some of the most beautiful places in British Columbia that would seamlessly associate the BRMB product line with the lifestyle of the common adventurer, helping to promote the mapbooks, the topo maps, GPS maps, and phone app in a way that feels authentic and transparent to our audiences.

We have a trip in mind that starts in central BC (100 Mile House) and ventures through the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast, visiting the unseen parts of western BC by taking the Farwell Canyon Route through BC’s only desert. The route would then take us to Tsilos Provincial Park and Chilko Lake via Taseko Lake Road and the Nemaiah Valley, where Ben would see this rugged part of the province for the very first time. Ben would find a camp spot he’s been dreaming about for years (Canoe Point in Chilko Lake), and set up camp.

WHY CHOOSE US?

WHAT DO WE BRING TO THE TABLE?

Over the last 10 years, the two of us (Ben and Damon) have been working hard using our various skill sets to work with a number of tourism boards and brands. Between us, we’ve worked with tourism boards such as:

  • Hello BC, Travel Alberta, Bonjour Québec, Tourism Prince George, and Travel Alaska to name a few.

We’ve also worked with major brands such as:

  • Eddie Bauer, Fujifilm, Red Bull, Mercedes-Benz, Intel, and many more.

We are trusted and hired to work with these organizations because of the stories we can tell through written mediums and visuals ones in photo and video. The stories we tell are ones that are genuine, from the heart and always with the spirit of the place and product we’re capturing.

WHAT WE’VE DONE

We have worked with various tourism boards and brands both around the world and locally to create content for their use on social media, advertising and promotion. We blend our styles from high quality lifestyle content, mixed with top-tier cinema work. We believe this gives companies many options in how they want to share the content we create with their audiences and allows for a more immersive experience.
